Xander nearly bounced out of the travel agency. His left hand brushed over the tickets hidden inside his jacket. He couldn’t contain the huge grin on his face as he got in his car.

Will was in for a big surprise.

Driving home, he hummed the song playing in the radio and drummed the rhythm on the wheel.

Will set the table, dinner was almost ready.

He was excited about his surprise for Xander. In his nervousness, he nearly burned his hand while cooking. His thoughts drifted away most of the time. What, if he doesn't remember. What, if he doesn't wanna go there.

After making sure Xander would start his job in construction next month, Will had planed his surprise. The day before, he had bought the flight tickets.

He went back to the kitchen for some last preparations. Hearing the front door open, he shouted, “Hello luv. Dinner is ready, take a seat.”

Xander took the tickets out of his jacket and went into the dining room.

When he saw the table, he froze. Candles and vine. Wow, how nice.

“Whoa. This looks great. Is there a special occasion?”

“Yes. Well, no. Not today. But I want to talk about one.” Will answered, appearing from the kitchen, two plates in his hands. He put them on the table and sat down. Xander followed his example.

“I’ve got a surprise for you.” Will blurted out, pulling the flight tickets out from under his napkin. There was no way, he could have waited any longer. He wouldn't have been able to eat with his stomach constricted like that.

“Me, too. I mean, I’ve got a surprise, too.” Xander said, holding out his tickets.

They looked at each other, then down at the tickets in their hands.

Exchanging the tickets, they looked the destinations.

They looked back at each other smiling.

“You said, you wanted to go to Barcelona next year, remember? I thought, It’s a good place to celebrate.” Will explained.

“I remember.” Xander replied, his thumb stroking over Will’s hand.

“And I thought, going back to the town we met, where it all began, is a good way to celebrate. We really are a matched set, huh?” Xander said laughing.

“We could combine both cities.” Will contemplated.

“Great idea.”

“Happy anniversary.” They said simultaneously.

“Well, in a week.” Xander added grinning.

They reached for each others hands across the table, both remembering the day they had met, nearly a year ago.
